# How to publish a public share for Grokdex

> Get a public https://x.ai/bot/… URL with official Share a Bot or Share as Template, then list it on Grokdex. Enterprise can block public templates.

Updated: 2026-09-23

Grokdex lists a public `https://x.ai/bot/…` share URL. [How to list a Grok Bot on Grokdex](https://grokdex.net/guides/how-to-list) assumes you already have that URL. This page covers the two official ways to publish one.

## What kind of link does Grokdex need?

A **public** share URL that looks like `https://x.ai/bot/…`. Only paste a link you are allowed to make public.

## Strip secrets first

If anyone has the link, they can view the Bot's shared configuration, including identity, description, skills, and routines. Remove API keys, internal URLs, customer data, and anything else you would not put in a public document. That warning is in [Share a Bot](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/bots#share-a-bot).

## How to publish with Share a Bot

Official [Share a Bot](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/bots#share-a-bot) is the copy-link flow.

1. Open the Bot and copy its share link.
2. Send the link. The recipient opens a preview on [x.ai](https://x.ai) and can choose **Add to Grok Bot**.
3. They need the Grok Bot app to finish adding it.

Adding a shared Bot creates a copy on the recipient's account. It does not give them your computer, logins, or conversation history.

## How to publish with Share as Template

SpaceXAI's [Templates for Grok Bot](https://x.ai/bot/guides/templates-for-grok-bot) describes a different flow. Clicking **Share as Template** does not publish by itself.

1. Choose **Share as Template**.
2. Choose team or public.
3. Choose **Publish**.
4. Copy the link.

Treat a template as a recipe, not a clone. First-party plugins and skills can be included. Secrets and personal or private skills are not. Recipients may need to reinstall plugins. Custom MCP servers and scripts are not in the template.

## What if my team is on Enterprise?

[Public template sharing](https://docs.x.ai/grok-bot/teams-and-enterprises) controls whether members can publish Bot templates outside the team. Off keeps sharing team-only. Cursor enforces that on the server, including for templates that are already public. Enterprise teams start with public sharing off. Other teams start with it allowed. If the control is off, you may not get a public `https://x.ai/bot/…` URL to paste on Grokdex.

## List it on Grokdex

When you have a public share URL you may publish, see [How to list a Grok Bot on Grokdex](https://grokdex.net/guides/how-to-list). Paste it at [grokdex.net/upload](https://grokdex.net/upload). Listing is free. No account.

Grokdex is independent. It is not affiliated with xAI or SpaceXAI.
